Can confirm this is accurate. Im in New Jersey and we lost college player props like 6 months ago now. Kinda sucked at first but honestly I just moved to other stuff. The game lines are still there and tbh I was probably losing money on props anyway lol

idk man feels like the ncaa is just using player safety as an excuse when really they just want a cut of the action. where was all this concern before betting got legalized? seems convenient timing

nah bro i thought so too but theres actually documented cases of athletes getting harassed over prop bets. like there was that LSU basketball player who talked about getting instagram dms threatening his family because he didnt hit his assists over. these are kids man, its different than pro leagues

For what its worth, the American Gaming Association actually supports some restrictions on college props. They see it as a way to maintain legitimacy and avoid federal intervention down the line. Basically self-regulation before someone else does it for them.

wait so if props get banned everywhere does that mean offshore books still have them? asking for a friend lol

yeah offshore will always have everything but you lose all the consumer protections. no state gaming commission to complain to if they dont pay you out. wouldnt recommend it honestly

The bill thats floating around congress right now would make it a federal standard actually. Bipartisan support from what I read. So even if your state hasnt done anything yet, could change quick if that passes.

honestly this whole thing is so annoying. first they legalize betting then they slowly take away everything good about it. whats next, no live betting? no parlays? just feels like a bait and switch

That sucks but i mean college kids literally getting threatened isnt cool either. I bet NFL props mostly now and its fine. theres enough action out there, we'll survive without betting on whether some 20 year old hits 4 threes

fwiw the integrity monitoring systems for college sports are way less sophisticated than pro leagues. thats part of why regulators are nervous. easier for bad actors to manipulate outcomes when theres less oversight

so does anyone know if this affects fantasy sports too?? like daily fantasy with college players??

different legal framework actually. dfs is considered a game of skill in most states, not gambling. some states have restricted college dfs but its not tied to the same prop betting bans

Worth noting that some books are getting ahead of this voluntarily. DraftKings and FanDuel both announced they'd stop offering certain college props even in states where its still legal. Reading the room basically.

yeah the original comment nailed it. been betting since before everything went legal and honestly the market always adapts. lost things before gained things before. game lines arent going anywhere and thats where the real edges are anyway imo
