Yeah what pete said. Plaid is the way most of them do it now and its actually really secure. I was paranoid too but been using it for like 8 months with zero issues. Your bank info is encrypted and the book never actually sees your login credentials

If Plaid doesn't support your bank (some smaller credit unions dont work) you can usually do a manual verification where they send two small deposits to your account and you confirm the amounts. Takes a couple days but works fine.

fwiw some books also let you use paypal or venmo as a middleman if you really dont want to link your bank directly. adds an extra step for withdrawals but some people prefer that layer of separation

Just a heads up - ACH transfers from bank accounts usually take 1-3 business days to clear. If you want instant deposits you might need to use a debit card instead, though some banks flag gambling transactions so YMMV

wait does plaid store your bank password somewhere? like could they get hacked and someone gets all my info?

nope they dont store your actual password, they use tokenized access. basically your bank gives them a limited permission token that can only do specific things. even if plaid got breached the attackers wouldnt have your login, just a token that the bank could immediately revoke

honestly the whole process is annoying af. tried linking my credit union and it failed like 4 times before i just gave up and used my debit card. then THAT got blocked by my bank and i had to call them to allow it. such a hassle

That sucks but i think it depends on your bank tbh. I have BoA and it worked first try no issues. Might be worth calling your credit union ahead of time to whitelist gambling transactions if theyre known to be strict

idk man giving any gambling site access to my bank account feels risky. what happens if the sportsbook goes under or something? do they still have that connection?

You can revoke access anytime through your bank's settings or through Plaid's portal directly. Also if youre using a licensed book in a legal state they have to follow strict regulations, its not like some offshore site thats gonna disappear overnight. The state gaming commission would come after them hard

one thing nobody mentioned - make sure you check if your book charges fees for ACH deposits or withdrawals. most dont but ive seen a couple that charge like $5 for bank transfers which is dumb when cards are free

does anyone know if theres a minimum deposit when using bank transfer? i just wanna start small like $20 or something

depends on the book but most have $10-20 minimums for ACH. some are higher like $50 so check before you go through the whole linking process. the deposit page usually shows the min/max before you confirm anything

can confirm what pete said about plaid being easy. was super nervous my first time but its legit the same process as linking your bank to like venmo or cash app. nothing to stress about op youll be fine
